5 reasons not to hate the Outlander PHEV

Though we usually don't see articles that suggest reasons not to hate a vehicle, cars.com has recently posted some of their thoughts on the Outlander PHEV. They were impressed by the cars utility, its ability to rapid charge, adjustable regenerative braking and the battery charge mode. https://www.cars.com/articles/5-reas...1420728732497/

If you've owned a Mitsubishi product in the last few years, then you know what to expect with the Outlander. I wonder how many of the buyers of the PHEV are newcomers to the brand, purely based on the fact that there are no real direct competitors.

Simply put, the Outlander PHEV is practical. It addresses basic needs and concerns that owners have all while giving us the latest in technology, i'm a fan.

There are tons of electric SUV's on the horizon from BMW, MB, Audi etc but I haven't heard any of them having plug in models. I think the next closest thing might be the subcompact Niro.

330e and 530e are a couple plug-in hybrid models BMW has. Some brands might be behind but there is ready demand to meet.

There are plenty of plug in sedans, but they don't offer the same amount of utility. We've seen from the hatchback styling of new models like the Leaf, that this is a key factor for purchase.

More people these days aren't just buying SUV's for utility but just because they like riding higher, weird to some people its part of Americas SUV culture.

Automakers are looking to bridge this gap with these new lifted wagon models like the All Road, Alltrack and Focus Active. Subaru has had a lot of success with the Outback.

Apparently Ford wants to make the new EcoSport (smaller than Ford Escape) then new entry-level product for customers and get rid of sedans

Sedans just don't see the interest that they used to, and Ford isn't the only automaker making those kinds of cuts. I'm guessing that sales of the Mirage haven't been all that impressive over the past few quarters either.
